Pd/CeO<sub>2</sub> Catalysts Prepared by Solvent-free Mechanochemical Route for Methane Abatement in Natural Gas Fueled Vehicles

The increasing diffusion of alternative mobility solutions, ranging from electric technologies to natural gas fueled vehicles (NGVs), has led a progressive life-cycle analysis approach their environmental impact in terms greenhouse gases (GHGs) emissions. This new prompted careful design the NGVs catalytic aftertreatment system order minimize converter carbon footprint as well unburned methane emissions at tailpipe. Here, series Pd/CeO2 oxidation catalysts were prepared by an environmentally friendly solvent-free method and compared commercial wet-synthesized state-of-the-art catalysts. Their application systems was evaluated testing powder coated monolith cores for CH4 steam reforming, which are main abatement reactions occurring three-way catalyst (TWC) under lean rich conditions, respectively. mechanochemical synthesis initially displayed superior activity counterpart obtained conventional wet impregnation, especially but appeared less resistant industrial aging process after core washcoating. Lambda sweep experiments carried out full composition proved that, despite needing further optimization washcoating processes, developed mild milling procedure is viable way production based TWCs.
